What is Yoga?
Yoga is simply coming home to your SELF. It means "union" with Source, the Universe, Creator, God, All That Is, Spirit, Divine Intelligence, Energy, whatever name you are most comfortable with. It can be likened to a tree with many different "limbs" or branches representing the many paths or styles suited to different individuals based on their Nature. Regardless of how many branches and leaves a mighty Oak has, the seed remains One and the same. The cause for the tree is still carried within the seed that becomes a mighty Oak. And so it is with Yoga. There may be many rivers, but they are all leading to the same ocean. The journey back to that ocean (the Self) can be described as Yoga. Yoga is NOT a religion. It is a "practical science" & therefore can be practiced by anyone of any religion or tradition/culture/faith.
The Practices:
Yoga is so much more than a series of exercises as many of us in the west have come to consider them; they are ancient practices which assist in aligning our body, mind & Spirit. They help us calm and quiet our mind, focus our breath, relax, strengthen and tune our body, and ultimately experience the bliss, truth, and peace of Spirit. Amma Prema offers several different styles of yoga; allowing the practitioner (beginner and experienced alike) to discover through their own self awareness, which practices/path are most fitting for them and deepening their experience through them. We specialize in Yoga for the Childbearing years. Yoga is beneficial throughout our entire lifetime.
Many of our sessions and classes include relaxation and breathing techniques, and Meditation. The fruits of Meditation practice are Peace, Bliss, Contemplation & deep inner silence. Prenatal and Postnatal Yoga incorporates many of the above types of Yoga and is designed specifically for the Childbearing Years, sometimes weaving in elements of Childbirth Education.
